Giardini-Naxos

I stayed in Giardini-Naxos.  It is a town founded by the Greeks.  There are a few beaches there.  On the beaches, there are rocks from the volcano, Mount Etna. The rocks are smooth because the waves crash against them, chipping off the edges.  My friend went to the beach two times; but I stayed home since A: the sand is too hot and B: I can’t swim.  So, I cannot go to the cooler sand.

Giardini-Naxos was first three towns: Giardini, Naxos and Schisó.  The separate towns grew and soon their borders touched. They soon agreed to join together and become one town: Giardini-Naxos-Schisó.  Giardini-Naxos-Schisó is the official name; but, most people just say Giardini-Naxos.  My best friend has family here; so, they said that we could stay in their home while they live in another home.

I do not need a tan myself; but, for those who want a tan, it is the perfect place.

Giardini-Naxos is in Sicily, a small island, a short ferry ride away from Italy.  Sicily has lots of ruins and I might have one or two posts about them in the future, so stay tuned!

A whole list of people tried to conquer Sicily.  Here are just a few: Romans, Greeks, Normans (from France), Vikings and others.  So, Sicily has various historical sites from lots of people.  That is part of the reason that Sicily is popular. The food is delicious; but, food is something I will talk about on a separate occasion.

Sicily has lots of flowering trees and singing birds in summer.  In Giardini-Naxos, there are corner stores where you can buy groceries and other basic things.  There are lots of apartment buildings.  The people are really nice.  There are lots of lizards and near garbage cans, there are cats.  The lizards are there because it is warm and they need the sun to stay warm.

I hope that you liked my post!  And, say hi to the lizards for me if you go.

Until the next post…
